Eleanor Jean Smith Seidenable, 97, of Pomeroy
Eleanor Jean Smith Seidenable, 97, of Pomeroy, passed away Saturday evening, December 26, 2020, at Holzer Meigs ED in Pomeroy.
She was born May 31, 1923, in Pomeroy, Ohio, daughter of the late Anthony and Lillian Duerr Smith. Jean was a 1939 graduate of Pomeroy High School.
Her entire life was spent in Pomeroy where she left her mark. She was employed by the Blaettnar Auto Company and spent many years as a Meigs County Board of Elections Poll Place Preceding Judge. During World War II, Jean received the Navy E for excellence for her work ethic while building the Helldiver Aircraft at Curtis Wright in Lancaster, Ohio. She and her husband, Jack, were strong supporters and volunteers of the Meigs County Fair. Jean sponsored an award in Jack’s memory for the best Meigs County 4H lamb born and raised in Meigs County. In what spare time she had left, she loved attending auctions all over southeastern Ohio.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacklyn Spaun, of Millersburg, Ohio; her grandchildren, Melissa (Terry) Johnson, Melinda (Michael) Cleland, Matthew Dailey, and Mark (Krystin) Dailey; great-grandchildren, Cassandra (Bradley Bonecutter) Johnson, Whittney (Tre) Wallace, Hunter and Colte Dailey, Damion, Jacob, Cameron, Alexia Dailey, Kali, Deidra, Brandon and Thannan Cleland, Ashley, Jeff, Joe Adrianne White; several great-great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. “Jack” Seidenabel in 1989; her brother, Phillip Smith and six sisters, Hilda White, Mildred Danis, Mary Schaefer, Sue Goeglein, Clara Milhoan and Wilma Bibbee.
Graveside services will be held at noon on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Beech Grove Cemetery in Pomeroy with Linda Damewood officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Pomeroy.
In lieu of flowers, Jean’s request was that donations be made to the 4H Lamb Association, Meigs County OSU Extension Office, 113 East Memorial Drive, Pomeroy, Ohio 45769
