Snow in forecast for the weekend

POMEROY, Ohio – Snow is expected through the weekend for the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for southeast Ohio, northeast Kentucky, and portions of central West Virginia, northern West Virginia, southern West Virginia and western West Virginia.

Beginning Saturday, Jan. 16 and going through Thursday, Jan. 21 snowfall for Meigs County will be possible. Scattered to numerous snow showers are expected Saturday and could produce quick snowfall accumulations. Most locations can expect a coating to an inch of snow, but locally heavier amounts will be possible.

Today – Showers before 4pm, then a slight chance of showers after 5 p.m. High near 41. Light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday – A chance of snow showers before noon, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Saturday Night – A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. West wind 7 to 9 mph.
Sunday – A slight chance of rain showers after 3pm, mixing with snow after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
