Nana’s Kitchen: Saucy Pork Chops
Nana’s Kitchen: Saucy Pork Chops
Greetings, home cooks! Welcome to Nana’s Kitchen.
Church cook books are a lot of fun and with great family recipes. I found one from the
Antiquity Baptist Church. There was a picture of the Willing Hands Class-1976. The publication date for the book is 2011.
Recipes have been handed down since time began. One cook teaching the next. The rich tradition of sharing recipes is to be treasured. Recipes can reflect heritage, customs, local ingredients, and occasionally a secret ingredient!
I tried this recipe and liked it. Maybe you will, too.
Saucy Pork Chops
Roberta Shain, Antiquity Baptist Church, 2011
6 pork chops
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 cup ketchup
2-3 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
In skillet, brown chops on both sides in a small amount of hot oil.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Top chops with onions.
Turn to low heat.
Combine chicken soup, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce; pour over pork chops and onions.
Cover and let simmer 45 – 60 minutes or until done.
Enjoy!
Notes:
Used boneless pork chops.
Be sure to use skillet large enough to accommodate the number of chops.
Sauce thickens some as it cooks.
Onions were well cooked.
Used 3 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. 2 would be a little less spicy.
NOT GLUTEN FREE, cream of chicken soup can be contaminated with flour according to can information.
