The Church Mouse: God is Always Available, No Matter the Time
The Church Mouse: God is Always Available, No Matter the Time
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 1:1)
TICK TOCK ! TICK TOCK ! TIME !
It is time to change the clocks, again! This is the time we fall back. We move the hands on the clock backwards one hour. I overheard someone the other day say.
“Wow, we are gaining a whole hour this weekend!”
Not really!
We have this thing that we do…..called Daylight Savings Time. We change the clock in the spring by moving the hands forward one hour. Then in the fall we move the hands backwards. You know “spring forward…fall back.” But really, face it; folks there is only 24 hours in a day or if you want to be technically correct there are 86,400.002 seconds in a day. All we are really doing is playing with the hands on the clock.
I remember my Grandmother used to say the older you get the faster time flies. I used to think that time was different for old people. Now that I am in that class of people, I understand what she was talking about. We are more aware of time and all the time that we have wasted in the past. So it does seem that time is moving faster. But I also know that the length of the day is the same now, as it was on the very day that God created the heavens and the earth.
We cannot add to or subtract from time. No matter how hard we try. We cannot add one second to the day. We are just playing a mind game with ourselves. Time keeps on ticking away. When a second arrives… it is pushed aside by the next and the next and so on. Time keeps going and going and will continue until God decides to stop it. Time is one of the few things that we humans cannot stop. It is here and then it’s gone and when it’s gone we can never get it back. God is in control of time and we cannot do anything to get God to change time. Time is God’s! Thank the heavens He will not give man control of it!
We would like to be in control everything, including time. We kid ourselves into thinking that we have added or subtracted an hour from our day by having Daylight Savings Time. But really all we are doing is fooling ourselves in to thinking this is true. Satan wants us to believe that we are in control of things.
Remember how he tricked Eve? By twisting the words of God, he told her that she would not die if she ate from the tree in the center of the garden. He told her that God did not want her to be as smart as God was. But, that is not what God said. But because Eve was human, she wanted power and so she believed what Satan said instead of checking out the facts. I know you are saying “she could not read the Bible, as it had not been written yet!” But she could have asked God. He came to the Garden every day! If you do not believe me read Genesis chapter three. You have a Bible and no excuse for not reading it. You have plenty of time; after all we are gaining an hour this weekend. (LOL).
Prayer-Heavenly Father, help us to remember that you are always available at all times for us to call upon. Help us to rely on you for all our needs. Thank you, Father for allowing us time to grow and learn your ways. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
