Eugene Emerson “Gene” Haning, 83
Eugene Emerson “Gene” Haning, 83, passed away on Sunday December 12, 2021. He was born on February 17, 1938 to the late Willie and Anna (Welch) Haning.
Gene was retired from the Meigs County Highway Department. After his retirement he spent some time doing light farming but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with friends. He has often been described as ornery and there really isn’t a better word to describe him; his sense of humor and ornery ways will always be remembered by those that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Viola (Tuckerman) Haning. He is also survived by his daughter, Rhonda (Les) Frank; his son, Ronald (Darla) Haning; grandchildren, Sarah (Jeff Henry) Frank, Matthew (Alyssa) Frank, Leslea (Jacob) Nitz, Ronnie (Danielle) Haning and Heather Elam (Josh Marcum); great-grandchildren, Piper & Josh. Also surviving are his two very special nieces Linda (Paul) Darnell and Carolyn (Randy) Kesterson and a special nephews, Bob (Margie) Reeves, Bill (Penny) Elam, Robbie (Becky) Haninh, Brad (Susan) Knotts and Tim Knotts. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews who thought the world of him as well.
In addition to his parents; he was proceeded in death by his brother Bob Haning and his sister Carol (Haning) Knotts.
Friends may call from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Anderson-McDaniel Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Wells Cemetery with, family friend, Jeff McElroy officiating.
