Leota M. Krautter of Racine passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at the Overbrook Rehabilitation Center in Middleport.
Born March 26, 1934, she was the daughter of John Russell and Milly Margaret (Stanton) Bolin. She was a 1952 graduate of Chester High School. A homemaker, Leota was active in her community and her children’s lives as a parent, volunteer, Meigs County Fair supporter and 4-H advisor. She was an accomplished artist and was an active member of the Chester Garden Club for nearly four decades. She was formerly employed with Meigs Soil and Water Conservation District.
After leaving Meigs County in the 1980s, she lived in the Chicago area and enjoyed spending her golden years living near her siblings in the Galveston, Texas area before returning home to be closer to family 22 years ago.
Surviving are her children Randy (Patty) Young, Sherri (Glen) Dunbar, and Nola (Barry) O’Brien, all of Racine; sisters Lori (Chris) Bibler of Bremen and Helen Louise Swick of Santa Fe, Texas; grandchildren Lauren (Tom) Hunter of Pomeroy, Chelsea (Ryan) Smith of Racine, Kyle (Abby) Young of Racine, Matthew O’Brien of Pomeroy, Ash (Tiffany) O’Brien of Syracuse and Dakota O’Brien of Racine, and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouses, Reid A. Young and Henry Krautter, brothers Larry Ray Bolin and John Bolin, and sisters Juanita Lodwick, Esther Parker, Irene Smith, Linda Shepard and Cheryl Sue Greene.
