The Church Mouse: Why Love the Bible

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
– 2 Timothy 3:16-17

I had to make trip a few days ago, so I had a Christian station on the radio. Chuck Swindoll was preaching. At the end of the program he ask this simple question?
“Why do you love the Bible?”

The program ended. They never answered the question. This is food for thought! The station went to a commercial and I started thinking.
“Why do I love the Bible?”

I never really thought much about it before now. Growing up in a Christian home the Bible was a prominent item in our house. I recalled my dad reading aloud from his Bible on Saturday nights when I was little. It was usually in preparation for his Sunday School lesson.

I can also remember when I got a real Bible of my very own (one with out pictures) I was so excited.  I took it to church with me every time it went and I read it every night. I still have that Bible tucked away as it pages are falling out from age.
But, back to our question. Why do we love the Bible?
Oh I know it’s God road map for us to get to heaven. You know “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth!”

As I drove home I pondered the question some more. Suddenly it to came to me as I turned into to my drive way. I love it because it’s a love letter to me from God.
I was excited and happy. Remember, Jesus loved you and me enough to die for us which is a pretty big deal;  and then He wrote us a love letter.

I get really excited to think that I’m loved that much by the creator of the universe.  We should be excited to know that God loves each of us. We should be excited to share this love with everyone we come in contact with. That is the mission he left us with when he went back to heaven.

Prayer-
Father God, I thank you for everything you do for me. Thank you for my many blessings in my life. Thank Jesus for loving me enough to die on the cross for me, sinner. Help me to be witness to others and to share your love and grace. Amen
