Ruth Ann (Meadows) Smith, 89

Ruth Ann (Meadows) Smith, 89, of Racine, Ohio, passed away Wednesday September 14, 2022, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. Born September 24, 1932, in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Henry E. Meadows and Ruby A. (White) Meadows formerly of Crown City, Ohio.

She was married to Donald G. Shaffer who preceded her in death in 1957 and Fred E. Smith who preceded her in death in 2002. Also proceeding her in death was her daughter V. Gail (Shaffer) Rowe in 1998, sister Mamie Garnet (Meadows-Elliott) Dillion; brothers H. Howard Meadows, Richard L. Meadows and sister-in-law Bette S. (Johnson) Meadows, W. Doug Meadows and sister-in-law E. Ann (Mc Quire) Meadows, sister-in-law Betty J. (Bostic) Meadows.

Surviving are daughter, Betty L. Wagner of Racine; sons, Donald C. (Heather D.) Shaffer; James H. (Heather D.) Smith of Racine; brothers, Archie C. (Betty M) Meadows; Charles W. Meadows; sister Nancy K. (Meadows-James) Myers; sister-in-law, Shirley (Smith) Meadows; brother-in-law Kenneth Dillion; son-in-law Jerry L. Rowe; 8 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

A member of the Racine United Methodist Church, she currently attends Carmel Sutton Methodist Church and formerly Morning Star United Methodist Church and Racine United Methodist church with whom she has developed many lasting friendships in her sister churches. She loved her career of 28 years as a therapeutic worker at Gallipolis Developmental Center where she retired October 2018 at the age of 86 when her eyesight prevented her from driving.

Services will be at the Anderson – Mc Daniel Funeral Home, 590 East Main Street, Pomeroy Ohio. Pastors Mark Mitera and Larry Fisher will officiated the service on Monday, September 19 at 1 p.m., viewing was Sunday, September 18 from 6-8 p.m.  A celebration of life is schedule September 24 at the Blakeslee Center, 100 Blakeslee Drive, Middleport, Ohio, from 12 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pallbearers were grandsons: Ronald S. Wagner, Donald W. Shaffer, Joshua A. Smith, Donald (DJ) Russell and great-grandsons Cayden J. Keyes, Wyatt E. Russell.
