Charles Eugene Withee

Charles Eugene Withee born October 30, 1938, the son of the late Charles Withee and Mildred Eskew Withee. Charles went home to the Lord with family present on  December 29, 2022 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio after a short illness.

Charles married the love of his life Mary Hazel Duffy on August 26, 1962 and they spent 60 blessed years together. 

He is survived by his sister, Elaine (Jerry) Laverack, his sons Matthew (Lisa) Withee and Kevin Withee, two granddaughters Heather (Billy) Withee and Andrea (Bobby) Galloway, two grandsons James Bower and Timothy Bower and great granddaughters Amelia Galloway and Freyja Bower as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Jim Withee.

Charles had a passion for Mathematics and Science. He graduated from Pomeroy High School and continued his education at the University of Rio Grande class of 1961 then continued on to further his education at the University of Kentucky and University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. He began his teaching career at Rutland High School and  taught Mathematics and  Natural Sciences at the University of Rio Grande and retired in 2009. He continued his love for education by tutoring in his home. 

He attended Simpson Chapel UMC. He enjoyed his farms and loved the night sky constellations. He enjoyed having family get togethers and telling corny jokes. He will be missed. 

At Charles’ request his body will be donated to science (MedCure) to continue educating others. 

The family will receive friends from 11:00am -1:00pm January 28, 2023 and 1:00pm memorial service at Simpson Chapel. Service will be officiated by Pastor Dan Lamphier. McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis will handle arrangements.
