Toni Rose Andrew, of Pomeroy, OH, passed away peacefully, at home, on January 19th, 2023.One of eleven children, She was born in January 1933 in Clintwood, VA to Benjamin and Gracie Rose. Later she moved to Baltimore, MD with her Mother & sisters, where she eventually met Joseph Palmer Andrew, Sr. Toni and Palmer wed months later in Centreville, MD. They lived on the Eastern Shore where she raised their 9 children until their marriage ended in 1977.
With her 4 youngest children, Toni then moved to Racine, OH to stay with her sister Tessie. The bond created between the two families in these years became unbreakable. Toni was employed at Robbins and Myers and made a home for herself in Ohio. After the death of her daughter Theresa, Toni raised her three grandchildren. For a short time she lived in Florida & enjoyed the time she was close to sisters there, but spent the remainder of her life in Ohio where she felt was home. Time spent with her sisters, with her extended family, and in church brought her the most joy.
Toni was a devoted servant of God. She faithfully went to church and made beloved, life-long friendships. Many describe her as an angel on earth. She had an angelic voice and loved singing. She shared a love of singing with her family and cherished memories of harmonizing with her sister Tessie. She enjoyed hymns and gospel music & loved singing to her children and grandchildren who felt wrapped in her love by the lullabies and nursery rhymes she sang to them.
Toni was incredibly loving and kind to all her family and friends.
Despite health issues in recent years, with the loving care of her eldest daughter Grace, Toni was able to continue living life as fully as possible and made it to 90 years old. She was grateful to have lived a long, blessed life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Arthur, Edith, Eva, Leona, Thelma, Mitchell, Lorene, Cinderella, and Tessie; daughters Agnes, Theresa, and Mary Ann; grandson Steven Lippson; Also, the father of her children, Palmer Andrew.
She is survived by her sister Freda Carter, her children Grace Andrew, Ben Andrew, Martha (Tony) Ring, Joseph P. Andrew Jr., Martin (Tahnee) Andrew, and Toni Lynn Andrew; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, Jan. 24th from 6 to 8 pm and funeral on Wednesday, Jan. 25th at 11 am at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, OH. Burial at Gilmore Cemetery in Minersville will follow. The family invites those who would like to celebrate her life to join them at Syracuse Community Center afterwards.
