Dale Robert Proffitt

Dale Robert Proffitt, 92, of Portland, Ohio, passed away on October 2, 2023, at his home.

He was born on April 5, 1931, in Portland, Ohio, son of the late James Venson and Hazel Marie Dow Proffitt.

Dale was employed for 10 years with the Ohio Department of Highways. He retired after 27 years of service from Foote Mineral/American Alloy. He was a member of the Steelworkers Local Union with Foote Mineral. He loved to hunt and fish, liked to farm, and raising cattle.

Dale is survived by his wife of 74 years, Letha Lee Bunner Proffitt; children, Dale F. Proffitt (Joann), Jenny Smith (Mark), and Melissa Smith (Garry); 7 grandchildren, Bobby, Heather, Nick, Lindsay, Brandon, Bryan, and Ryan; and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Raymond E. “Mac” Proffitt and James Junior “Jigs” Proffitt.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Ravenswood Cemetery with Reverend Dwayne Stutler officiating.
