Betty Jo Hamm, 90, of Syracuse, OH, went to be with the Lord and her heavenly family on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

She was born April 26, 1934, a daughter of Alma and Carl Van Meter of Clifton, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; son, Chester Young; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Frank Untalan; brother and sister-in-law, William and Carolyn Van Meter and son-in-law, Gary Clark.

Betty was a member of the Clifton United Methodist Church which she faithfully attended until her health declined. She was a devoted wife, mother, mama, sister, and aunt to her family and a loyal friend to many. 

She loved entertaining her family and friends, cooking and baking and watching westerns. She always had a smile and a hug for everyone she met.

She is survived by daughters, Vickie Clark and Sue Schwarz of Mason, WV; granddaughters, Kristin (Jake) Corey of Beckley, WV, Heather Schwarz (Mike Shumaker) of Mason, WV; great granddaughters, Madison and Marissa Corey of Beckley, WV; grandson, Jacob Young of Hillsboro, OH; daughter-in-law, Fhonda Young of Clifton, WV and many nieces, nephews, and cousins 

There will be a private graveside service for family and friends at a later date.
