William O. “Bill” Qualls, Sr.
William O. “Bill” Qualls Sr., 88, of Gallipolis, ’Went to be with the Lord’ on Tuesday September 10, 2024 at Holzer Senior Care Center. Born February 16, 1936 in Pomeroy, he was the son of the late Oscar J. and Hazel Watson Qualls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Harriet R. Scott Qualls and a granddaughter, Dalisa Borden.
Bill retired from OVEC, (the Kyger Creek Plant) after many years of service. He was also a former employee of the Carter and Evans Company. He served his country from 1957 to 1960 in the United States Army. A very active member of Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church, he later joined Paint Creek Baptist Church. He was an avid OSU Buckeye fan; he also enjoyed the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Reds. During his high school days, he excelled in football and basketball, he held a jump record for over 20 years and was known as the fastest man in Southeast Ohio. Bill loved his family and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Bill is survived by his children, William (Becky) Qualls Jr. of Gallipolis, Renee Jackson of Gallipolis and Tracy (Eddie) Borden of Gallipolis along with his grandchildren, Jermaine Jackson, Sonya Butler, Angel Castle, Felicia Borden, Aaron Qualls and Jasmine Beach, also surviving are several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a sister, Iris (Bobby) Payne of Middleport.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday September 16, 2024 at the Paint creek Baptist church with Pastor Christian Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Monday from 11:00 Am until the time of service. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the VFW #4464 Honor Guard.
