Nathan Roush of Syracuse, OH, age 90, went home to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on September 15, 2024. Nathan was born in New Haven, WV on November 18, 1933 to the late Walter Kenna and Nellie Muriel (Goodnite) Roush.

Nathan graduated high school in 1953 from Pomeroy High School. Shortly after graduation, Nathan joined the United States Marine Corp from January 1954 until January 1956 where he served in Japan during the end of the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged, Nathan went to work to be a conductor for the Conrail Railroad. After 42 years with the railroad, Nathan retired in 1995. Nathan enjoyed camping at his river lot, woodworking, gardening, and being a member of the Forest Run United Methodist Church.

Nathan married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Hess, on September 7, 1957. Together, they had three sons Butch, Bill, and Bob.

Nathan is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Carolyn Sue (Hess) Roush. Additionally, he leaves behind his three sons, Roger “Butch” (Becky) Roush of Springboro, OH, Walter “Bill” (Sheryl) Roush of Syracuse, OH, and Robert “Bob” Roush of Syracuse, OH; grandchildren, Derek (Ruchel) Roush, Mandy (Jon) McCarthy, Tanner (Tehya Ramage) Roush, Sydney Roush, Nickie (Christopher) Oiler Gaines, and Chastity (Ryan) Oiler Williams; great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Addilyn Roush, Avary and Bowen McCarthy, Kaitlin and Connor Gaines, Victoria (Kendall) Emmott, Marissa (Rich) Swain, Allie Parker; several nieces and nephews; and special nephews Charlie (Kelly Tobin) Chancey and Paul (Dorothy) Amberger.

In addition to his parents, Nathan was preceded in death by his sister, Marie (Hank) Amberger Rae; brothers, Walter (Anna) Roush and John Roush; and a niece, Mary Ann Chancey.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1:00pm with Pastor Wesley Thoene officiating at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow at Graham Station Cemetery in New Haven, West Virginia where military funeral honors will be presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9926. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Friday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home in Pomeroy.
