Thomas Jay Bradshaw, 96, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.  Jay was born on October 22, 1927 to Thomas E. and Marie Bradshaw in Zanesville, Ohio.  After serving as an MP in the Army at the end of WWII, he returned to marry Marjorie O. Bryslan “Lee.”  They moved to Forest Grove, Oregon where he received a degree in Optometry from Pacific University.  They returned to Ohio, choosing Gallipolis to be their home for almost seventy years.  Jay had a practice in Gallipolis and Meigs County.  They fell in love with the small town charm and Ohio River.

Jay is survived by his children, Alan (Marilyn) of Kingston, Ohio, Bart (Judy) of Naples, Florida, and Connie (Ray) of Hartville, Ohio; his granddaughter, Renee Sharp and grandson, Andrew Bradshaw; and great granddaughters, Megan and Mila Sharp.

After the passing of is wife Lee in 2014, Jay found another love and married Beverly Walker on December 27, 2015.  His family grew and he loved it.  It now includes Elizabeth “Liz” (Doug) Knauer and James (Carol) Walker; grandchildren, James Devin, James Grant, Andrew Fredrick, and Jaden Brooke; great grandchildren, Alaina Rochelle and Barrett James.  All Walkers, he loved us all.

There are no calling hours or services per his wishes.  A private memorial will be held by the family. 

The family wants to sincerely thank the staff of Holzer Hospice.  These ladies are blessed with a special gift of giving peace and dignity to their patients and their families.
