ODNR 2025 Summer Intern Program Applications Are Now Open
If you love exploring the great outdoors and are looking for a summer college internship, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) might be the right place for you! The 2025 Summer College Intern Program is accepting applications now through Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024.
There are approximately 70 paid positions available across several divisions and offices. Students are asked to apply to the categories that best matches their major(s) or interests. The link to apply for a position can be found on the Intern webpage on ohiodnr.gov.
Applicants can apply for the following categories:
- Admin/Communications/Operations – Recommended majors: Accounting, Business, Environmental Education, Communications, Marketing, Media Studies, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Information Technology, etc.
- Engineering/Surveyor – Recommended majors: Architecture, Civil, Environmental, Geological, Mechanical, Mining, Petroleum, Engineering Technology, Geographic Information Science, etc.
- Graphic Design/Photography/Videography – Recommended majors: Graphic Design, Photography, Videography, etc.
- Cultural History & Archives/Library Science – Recommended majors: Cultural History, History, Library Sciences, etc.
- Science Majors – Recommended majors: Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Conservation Management, Earth Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Entomology, Forestry, Geography, Geology, Natural Resources Management, Wildlife Management, Water Management, Zoology, etc.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Candidates must be enrolled in college – if a student is graduating in May and not continuing their education, they should consider other roles with ODNR upon graduation;
- Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2.5;
- Candidates must include a writing sample – A writing sample can be a research paper or writing assignment and is generally one to two pages in length. The topic should be relevant to the internship to which the applicant is seeking. Please note resumes do not count as writing samples.
