Fentanyl Trafficker Sentenced To Prison For Drug Laundering Through Oregon Beauty Salon

A Mexican man was sentenced in federal court on Friday for his role in a drug-laundering scheme involving a Tualatin beauty salon.

Luis Antonio Beltran Arredondo, a 35-year-old Mexican national living in Las Vegas, Nevada, received a sentence of 11 years in prison and five years of supervised release for conspiring to distribute fentanyl and heroin in Oregon.

According to court records obtained by KOIN 6 News, Arredondo and his fiancée, Jacqueline Paola Rodriguez Barrientos, laundered narcotics trafficking funds at Mazatlán Beauty Salon in Tualatin. An Internal Revenue Service examination discovered that they also used real properties purchased and transformed into rental units to launder money.

Bank records show that Barrientos frequently made cash deposits in her or the salon’s names ranging from $10,000 to more than $373,000 each. Over a nine-month period, the deposits exceeded $3.5 million.

According to a statement released by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon, Arredondo and Barrientos, together with other members of a drug trafficking group, paid $4.6 million for nine rental homes in Oregon, Washington, and Nevada.

Arredondo sought to use laundered money for the purchases, while Barrientos established third-party management businesses to rent them out. They were also utilized to launder narcotics revenues, producing around $10,000 every month.

Agents from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration apprehended the couple at their Las Vegas home in 2022. Barrientos is currently serving a 57-month sentence in federal prison for her involvement in the laundering scheme. Arredondo is the final member of the 12-person group to receive a sentence in this case.

Five of the rental properties have been confiscated and sold, while four are still in forfeiture proceedings.

According to court filings, the rentals include three houses on North Greenwich Avenue in Portland, two on Northeast 119th Place in Vancouver, one on Southwest Woodpecker Lane in Beaverton, and a complex on Southwest Hall Boulevard in Beaverton.
