A Winter Haven man is facing many felony charges, including kidnapping and battery on a law enforcement officer, after being arrested early Saturday morning following a disturbance report.
Brian C. Justice, 45, was brought into custody by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) shortly after midnight on Saturday, September 13. Deputies were summoned to a home on Monterey Drive about 11:55 p.m. in response to a disturbance and battery complaint.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered Justice in the backyard. According to the PCSO report, Justice was inebriated and admitted to “chest-bumping” the victim. When deputies sought to identify him, Justice refused and fled into the house as they attempted to apprehend him.
A fight broke out inside the home, and Justice is accused of punching one of the deputies in the face. Following a brief scuffle, deputies secured Justice in handcuffs.
The subsequent investigation provided more information regarding the occurrence. Earlier in the day, Justice reportedly forced the victim into a vehicle and refused to let them go.
Justice was taken to the Sheriff’s Processing Center and charged with kidnapping, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, two counts of resisting with violence, and three counts of resisting without force.
