A teenage boy was shot to death on Chicago’s South Side on Saturday night, according to police.
Around 7:15 p.m., police reported a shooting in the Morgan Park neighborhood’s 11300 block of South Carpenter Street.
A 17-year-old was standing on the sidewalk when someone inside a blue vehicle opened fire, wounding him in the chest, according to authorities.
According to police, the victim was brought to Christ Hospital in critical condition and was confirmed dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as Ian Williams.
The sedan’s driver fled north on Carpenter Street.
One person is in custody, and police from Area Two are investigating.
Police did not immediately release more details regarding the shooting.
