An El Paso County mother is facing felony charges after deputies found three young children left unsupervised in the early hours of September 15, 2025.
Around 2:23 a.m., deputies from the Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station were summoned to the 700 block of N. Fabens Road when multiple good Samaritans discovered a 4-year-old girl walking the street with her dog, Rocky. The girl, who couldn’t remember her birthday or address, offered to accompany deputies home.
Deputies tracked her to a home in the 100 block of NW CC Camp Street, where they discovered it unlocked and unsupervised. Inside, officers discovered two more children, aged 6 and 9, with no adults present and no way to call for assistance.
Investigators discovered that the children’s mother, 26-year-old Janely Reyes of Fabens, had left them unattended for an unknown amount of time, putting them to considerable danger. Child Protective Services was notified, and they are working with authorities to ensure the children’s safety.
Reyes was arrested and put into the El Paso County Detention Facility on three counts of abandoning or endangering a child, with a bond of $30,000.
