A 19-year-old motorcyclist from Inverness was seriously wounded last night in a high-speed collision near the I-275 exit to Bearss Avenue, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The incident occurred at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the FHP report, a Yamaha R6 motorcycle was heading southbound at high speeds on the Interstate 275 (I-275) exit ramp near Bearss Avenue.

According to reports, the rider, a 19-year-old man, accelerated off the ramp and collided with a concrete traffic island. The motorcycle then entered Bearss Avenue and crashed with a Chevrolet Silverado pulling a trailer. A 41-year-old Tampa man was driving his pickup westbound on Bearss Avenue.
