A York man accused of stealing 54 bronze vases from a Camp Hill cemetery was detained on Wednesday by Lower Allen Township police.

On November 24, 2024, Stephen Glassick, 40, allegedly stole vases valued at $26,730 from the Rolling Green Cemetery in the 1800 block of Carlisle Road. He was charged with the thefts earlier this year before being arrested this week.

Initially, staff reported the theft of more than 20 vases from the cemetery’s southeast corner, but it was later discovered that 54 vases had been removed. The thefts were reported to authorities on December 3, 2024.

Police received a tip on social media naming a woman they claimed was engaged in the crime, but she denied involvement.

She identified several other suspects who allegedly stole the vases, including Glassick. Police subsequently interviewed the other suspects indicated by the woman, who identified Glassick as the perpetrator of the thefts.

According to the criminal complaint, authorities interviewed Glassick at his home in May, and he allegedly acknowledged to removing the vases and selling the bronze scrap.

According to a police report, Glassick stated that he would take “20-30 vases a day” from cemeteries in Cumberland and York counties. He stated that he would retrieve the vases during daylight hours, sometimes appearing as a mourner before removing them from graves.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Glassick on Thursday, August 21, 2025. He is now charged with theft by unauthorized taking.
