A Fruitland Park man was detained after being stopped with small bags of meth and fentanyl.
At 11:45 p.m., an officer spotted Timothy Nixon, 61, failing to stop at the intersection of Urick Street and Olive Avenue. The Fruitland Park Police Department issued an arrest report on Thursday, October 16.
After being stopped, Nixon turned over his identification but refused to allow the officer to check his vehicle. A K-9 team rushed to the location and detected the stench of narcotics. According to the report, the officer instructed Nixon to exit the vehicle, after which a search was conducted.
The officer discovered a little bag of methamphetamine between the driver’s seat and the center console, as well as another bag in the top compartment of the console. A search of Nixon’s person turned up a bag of fentanyl, according to the report.
Nixon declined to comment on the narcotics. According to the report, he simply said that he had no idea what was in the little bags.
Nixon was arrested on charges of possessing methamphetamine and fentanyl. The Illinois native was taken to Lake County Jail and freed after posting a $5,000 bond.
