Columbus police say a man accused of raping three women may have assaulted others, and they’re hoping more victims come forward.
On Wednesday, Philip Daniels of Columbus was charged with three counts of rape, four counts of kidnapping, aggravated burglary, and strangling.
His sex offenses are characterized as sexual aggressive predatory behavior.
According to a search warrant obtained by 10TV, Daniels assaulted a lady at an apartment in northeast Columbus in August of last year while posing as a maintenance worker. The victim informed authorities that he had displayed a gun.
According to the indictment, Daniels’ sexual crimes began on August 16, 2024, and his most recent incident occurred on October 2.
“At this moment, we believe we have three identified victims. There’s the possibility that there are other victims who haven’t come forward yet; we don’t know for sure, but if there are, we’d like them to come forward,” said Lt. Jason Garner of the Columbus Division of Police Family Crimes Division.
During his arraignment, the prosecutor asked and the court agreed that Daniels be kept without bond.
Columbus police are requesting anybody with information on any of the previous occurrences, or instances that have not yet been reported, to contact the Adult Sexual Crimes Unit at 614-645-4701.
