Task Force Arrest Gang Member, Three With Machine Guns

The Memphis Safe Task Force apprehended a gang member and three men armed with machine guns at a home in Southwest Memphis on Monday afternoon.

Demario Noel, 32; Martavious Matthews, 26; Brandon Green, 33; and Ladarius Brown, 34, were arrested after a search warrant was executed at a home near Washburn Avenue, according to the United States Marshals Service.

According to the US Marshals Service, Noel, a self-admitted member of the Bloods street gang, is charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (machine gun), Theft of Property, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Matthews was charged with possessing a prohibited weapon, theft, evading arrest, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm while committing a dangerous felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Green and Brown are both charged with possession of a prohibited weapon (a machine gun), theft, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm while committing a dangerous felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“This operation reflects the task force’s continued commitment to identifying and apprehending violent offenders, removing illegal firearms, and disrupting the flow of narcotics within the community,” said supervisory deputy U.S. Marshal Ryan Guay.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the task force reported more than 1,200 arrests.

The task force’s operations began on September 29. Since then, killings have dropped by half, while auto theft and sexual assault have dropped by about 60%.
