Pendleton, OR — A Wind Advisory is in effect for much of central and north-central Oregon and southeastern Washington through 11 p.m. PDT Friday, October 24, 2025, according to the National Weather Service in Pendleton.

A fast-moving cold front sweeping across the Pacific Northwest will kick up southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with occasional gusts reaching 45 to 50 mph this evening. Communities under the advisory include Bend, Redmond, Heppner, Prineville, Condon, Yakima, the Tri-Cities, Goldendale, and Walla Walla.

The most intense winds are expected across the foothills of the Blue Mountains and the Columbia Basin. This includes parts of Sherman, Gilliam, Morrow, and Umatilla counties in Oregon, as well as Yakima, Benton, and Franklin counties in Washington.

Forecasters caution that loose outdoor items could be tossed around, and tree limbs may come down, potentially causing isolated power interruptions. Travel could be challenging for high-profile vehicles, especially along Highway 97, I-82, and I-84, where crosswinds may be strongest.

Winds should ease later tonight as the front moves east, with cooler, calmer weather settling in on Saturday. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor belongings, use extra care on the roads, and keep an eye on local forecasts for any updates.
