Hanford, CA — The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Wind Advisory for the Mojave Desert Slopes, calling for strong west winds through the weekend. The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday through 11 p.m. Sunday.
Forecasters expect sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 50 mph in exposed areas, including near Mojave and along the Highway 58 corridor. The most intense winds are anticipated during the afternoon and evening hours on both Saturday and Sunday.
The NWS cautions that gusty conditions could toss around unsecured outdoor items, snap tree limbs, and lead to isolated power outages. Travel may be challenging for high-profile vehicles, and blowing dust could reduce visibility along open stretches and passes.
Residents and travelers are encouraged to secure outdoor belongings, use extra caution on the roads, and be prepared for sudden crosswinds and reduced visibility.
Winds are expected to diminish late Sunday night as the weather system exits the region. For updated forecasts and road condition information, visit weather.gov/hanford.
