Caribou, ME — A lingering upper-level trough will keep northern and Downeast Maine cool and gray through the weekend, with occasional light rain and areas of fog, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.

Saturday will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies. Afternoon temperatures will top out in the upper 40s to low 50s, slipping back into the 30s overnight. Light showers are possible across northern and coastal sections, including around Presque Isle, Caribou, and Bar Harbor, with activity tapering late in the day.

Tonight stays mostly cloudy, and patchy river valley fog may develop.

Early Sunday, a weak system could spark light rain, with wet snow possible on higher terrain before temperatures climb above freezing and precipitation changes back to rain.

Looking ahead, high pressure is expected to build in from the north early next week, offering a brief quieter stretch. Later in the week, a developing low to the south may bring a more widespread round of rain to the region. Forecast confidence on the timing and track remains low, so details could change.

Residents are encouraged to check updates from the National Weather Service office in Caribou for the latest forecast adjustments.
