Dodge City, KS — A gray, showery pattern will hang on through Saturday across parts of south-central and eastern sections of southwest Kansas, according to the National Weather Service office in Dodge City. The persistent light to moderate rainfall will keep afternoon temperatures running on the cool side.
Bands of rain are expected to pass through communities including Great Bend, Pratt, Dodge City, and Medicine Lodge. The most substantial rainfall is favored in the eastern portion of southwest Kansas, where showers are likely to be a bit more frequent and steady.
Highs will top out in the mid-50s to lower 60s, in line with a typical late-October cool-down. Winds will remain light and variable, which should limit blowing dust and help avoid sharp temperature swings. Skies will stay mostly overcast for much of the day, with gradual clearing anticipated late tonight into Sunday.
While severe weather is not expected, plan for wet roadways and periods of reduced visibility, especially during the morning and early afternoon. Allow extra travel time and use caution in areas prone to ponding.
