JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A stiff northeast breeze rippled the St. Johns River early Saturday, carrying a salty hint that our run of quiet fall weather is about to change. After several breezy but mainly dry days, north Florida is headed for a wetter pattern by Monday, ushering in a stormy kickoff to Halloween week.

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville calls for a warm, mostly sunny Saturday with highs near 79°F. Coastal gusts could top 25 mph, especially along the beaches. A brief, light shower may brush coastal Duval County late tonight, but most neighborhoods should stay dry into Sunday morning. Persistent northeast winds will keep seas agitated and surf rough, and a Rip Current Statement remains in effect through early Monday—swimmers and boaters should use extra caution.

Clouds thicken on Sunday, with highs near 80°F, and rain chances rise Sunday night into Monday. The most active stretch arrives late Monday, when rounds of showers and a few thunderstorms are likely to affect the evening commute—particularly along the I-95 and U.S. 17 corridors. Any heavier downpours could lead to ponding on roadways and brief power flickers in coastal communities.

Behind the system, a noticeably cooler, drier air mass settles in Tuesday with highs close to 70°F, a more November-like feel as fall tightens its grip.

If you’re prepping for early Halloween festivities, secure outdoor decorations now and check for updated advisories Monday morning. Another front is expected to approach around midweek, keeping the pattern change in play.

Five-day outlook for Jacksonville, FL:
– Sat: 79/68 – Mostly sunny and breezy; elevated rip current risk.
– Sun: 80/69 – Partly sunny; a stray late-day shower possible.
– Mon: 77/63 – Periods of rain with isolated thunderstorms; gusty at times.
– Tue: 70/61 – Cooler and breezy; clouds gradually breaking.
