Omaha, NE — Dense morning fog settled over eastern Nebraska early Saturday, with visibility reduced to less than half a mile in several spots, according to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley.
The thickest fog is affecting east-central counties, including Lincoln, Fremont, Norfolk, and Omaha. These low clouds are expected to persist through midmorning before gradually lifting as temperatures warm.
Drivers should take extra care on the roads: use low-beam headlights, slow down, and leave more room between vehicles. Sudden pockets of reduced visibility are possible, especially along Interstate 80 and Highway 77.
While no freezing fog advisories are in effect, motorists should watch for slick conditions on bridges and overpasses where moisture can accumulate.
Conditions are forecast to improve late this morning, giving way to partly cloudy skies and seasonable afternoon temperatures.
