Grandin Pedestrian Killed in Train Collision at 3rd Street Crossing

A 71-year-old woman from Grandin died Friday afternoon after being struck by a train near a railroad crossing in Cass County, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.

The collision occurred at approximately 2:07 p.m. on Friday, October 24, at the 3rd Street Railroad Crossing in Grandin. Investigators say the woman was walking west across the tracks when a northbound Canadian National train approached and struck her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities noted that weather and roadway conditions were dry at the time of the incident.

Multiple agencies responded, including the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Grandin Fire Department, Gardner Fire, Sanford Ambulance, Hunter Ambulance, the Grandin Quick Response Unit, and BNSF Police.

Officials confirmed the victim was a Grandin resident. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
