Pittsburgh, PA — A Freeze Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh for much of western and southwestern Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia. The alert is in effect from midnight tonight through 9 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Forecasters expect subfreezing temperatures, with lows dipping to around 26 degrees. This blast of cold air marks the first widespread freeze of the season across the Ohio Valley and Western Pennsylvania.

The alert covers portions of Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, Greene, Westmoreland, and Washington Counties in Pennsylvania; Muskingum, Belmont, and Jefferson Counties in Ohio; and Brooke, Ohio, and Marshall Counties in West Virginia.
What to expect:
– Frost and freeze conditions may kill late-season crops and sensitive plants.
– Unprotected outdoor plumbing could sustain damage if not properly winterized.
Recommended steps tonight:
– Bring potted plants indoors and cover vulnerable landscaping.
– Disconnect and drain garden hoses; shut off and insulate outdoor spigots if possible.
– Ensure outdoor pets have warm, sheltered accommodations.
Temperatures should rebound into the upper 40s by Saturday afternoon. Another cold night is possible Sunday, so plan to keep protective measures in place through the weekend.
