Palos Park, IL — With colder days on the horizon, the Palos Park Women’s Club has begun a Children’s Coat Drive, seeking clean, gently used coats in kids’ sizes now through October 30.
Backed by the Palos Park Police Department, the effort invites neighbors to help local families by donating winter wear that will keep children comfortable throughout the season. Contributions can be dropped at multiple convenient locations: the Palos Park Library, Recreation Center, Village Hall, Moraine Valley Fit Rec, and during Palos Park Women’s Club meetings.
The police department also spotlighted a heartwarming Canadian practice known as “scarf bombing,” where residents leave scarves, hats, and coats tied to trees or benches for anyone who needs them, often with notes such as, “If you’re cold, take one.” It’s a simple gesture that underscores how small acts of kindness can have a big impact during the winter months.
Community members are encouraged to donate, share the warmth, and help ensure every child in Palos Park heads into winter with a cozy coat.
