SEATTLE, Wash. – A steady drench is pushing across Puget Sound this morning, with leaves whipping and water pooling along stretches of I-5. A vigorous Pacific system is moving inland, delivering strong breezes and widespread rainfall to much of western Washington through early Sunday.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has a Wind Advisory in force from 1 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Sunday for the greater Seattle area, including Everett, Olympia, and Tacoma. Southeast winds are expected to rise to 25–35 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. Small branches may break, and scattered power outages are possible in wooded neighborhoods or on exposed ridgelines.

Rounds of heavier rain will continue into Sunday afternoon, bringing roughly a half inch to one inch across the lowlands and higher totals in the Cascades. Motorists should plan for slick roads and standing water during the Saturday evening commute and early Sunday. Ferries on Puget Sound could encounter delays as gusts strengthen and waves become choppy.

By Monday, showers will diminish but may linger near the coast and along the Cascade foothills before a cooler, drier stretch settles in midweek. Temperatures remain mild for late October—upper 50s during the day and upper 40s overnight—with forecast models suggesting a turn toward cooler, more seasonal air by Halloween.

In the meantime, secure outdoor decorations and leave extra time for soggy errands. November’s chill isn’t far off.
