A Massachusetts teenager has been sentenced to prison in Fall River after shooting another teen earlier this year.

According to Easton Police, 19-year-old Anthony Lopes of Brockton pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court to five felony charges: armed robbery, assault and battery with a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of a large-capacity firearm. He was sentenced to two years and six months to three years in state jail, followed by a two-year probationary period with limitations such as staying away from the victim.

On January 14th, authorities found the victim, a 16-year-old female, with a gunshot wound to the face outside the Avalon Apartment Complex on Robert Drive.

Lopes was arrested on firearms-related charges after the incident and has been jailed without bail since January 27th.

According to The Enterprise, the woman was shot after a botched heist involving an $800 designer jacket she was attempting to sell.

Two more suspects, Xavion Barnes, 19, and Antonio Fonseca, 19, both of Brockton, are still charged with accessory after the fact in connection with the incident.

Philip Adams, Deputy Chief of Police, praised the Detective Division, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and all other law enforcement agencies for their dedication and collaboration in this successful investigation and prosecution.
