Samantha Joyce Legrand, 35, of Arlington, was found guilty of Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 (4-200 grams) with Intent to Deliver and sentenced to 25 years in the Texas Department of Corrections, according to the Johnson and Somervell County District Attorney’s Office.
Legrand’s conviction resulted from a traffic stop in which she gave officers a false name. During the investigation, detectives recovered 10.88 grams of methamphetamine stashed in various spots inside the vehicle. She was also discovered to have multiple outstanding warrants, including a Tarrant County extradition warrant.
Legrand admitted to using meth on a regular basis and having previously sold meth and marijuana. She originally attempted to conceal her identity by providing false information and an old phone number, but subsequently admitted she did so because she was aware she had an active warrant.
Kelsey Gipson and Michael Schneider, assistant district attorneys, prosecuted the case.
According to court records, Legrand has a lengthy criminal history, including earlier arrests in Dallas and Tarrant counties for narcotics offenses, as well as charges for assault on a police officer (2018), assault family violence (2019), and forgery (2023).
