A minor was apprehended after reportedly shooting a teenage girl in Phoenix on Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
Officers from the Phoenix Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near Cave Creek and Bell roads around 8:15 a.m.
They discovered a teenage girl with a gunshot wound.
She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Youth violence is widespread throughout the Valley. In August, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell stated that teen violence and “eagerness” to use weapons were on the rise.
The Phoenix Police Department is currently rewriting its Youth Interactions Policy, which has been made available to the public for review.
The public is encouraged to evaluate the policy and provide feedback until Saturday, Nov. 22.
