A 35-year-old Florida woman was taken into custody on Wednesday after an investigation into a sophisticated fraud operation targeting a Publix grocery store. Yirelys Dominguez, of Hialeah, Florida, is charged with allegedly defrauding the Publix store in Islamorada of $8,364 in meat and seafood in March 2025.

Dominguez has been formally charged with grand theft and making a false report/knowingly providing false information to a law enforcement officer. Her arrest by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office represents a major accomplishment for investigators working to dismantle the alleged fraud ring.

Authorities have stated that the investigation into the illegal operation is still ongoing.

Given the scope of the alleged fraud, law enforcement officials think that additional arrests may be forthcoming as they pursue leads related to the widespread usage of stolen credit cards at the location.
