A Summerfield man was detained for driving with a suspended license after being pulled over for a broken headlight near Wawa.

An officer saw 39-year-old Jose Omar Mora Sosa driving a green 4-door Saab in The Villages at 8:55 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The passenger-side headlight failed, resulting in a traffic stop near Wawa, located at 116 U.S. Highway 27.

Mora Sosa turned in his license but couldn’t find evidence of insurance. A check of his driving history revealed that his license had been suspended on October 31, and he had been advised of this on October 16. He was also convicted of driving with a suspended license on July 29, according to the newspaper.

He reported that his automatic insurance payment did not go through because his bank account information had changed. However, he remembered receiving a notice from the DHSMV regarding his license, according to the report.

Mora Sosa was later detained on suspicion of driving while license suspended with a prior conviction. He was also cited for driving without a headlight and failing to provide evidence of insurance. The Mexican native was taken to Lake County Jail and then freed after paying a $1,000 bond.
