Three people were taken into custody late Tuesday night after a wanted suspect barricaded himself inside a Bassett home, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 9:20 p.m. on November 11, deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant at 607 Longview Drive. When deputies arrived, they could hear voices inside, but no one answered the door.

After many unsuccessful attempts to compel the occupants to come out, a search warrant was secured, and the Henry County SWAT Team was sent to help.

For over three hours, deputies and SWAT teams made repeated announcements for anyone inside to leave the home. One person eventually emerged and was brought into jail. Officers then entered and searched the home, apprehending all wanted suspects.

Deputies discovered Derrick Lyn Phillippe, 39, hiding inside a footlocker with household goods piled on top to disguise him. Phillippe was arrested and jailed without bond on several allegations, including obstructing justice, probation violations, a first-time offender violation, and three counts of selling or distributing Schedule III substances.

Levi Enoch Dunmire, 38, was also arrested and jailed without bond on four probation violations.
Sarah Burnette Foster, 37, was charged with obstructing justice and issued a $2,000 bond.

Sheriff Wayne Davis praised the responding cops, adding, “Our deputies and SWAT personnel remained professional and patient throughout this incident.” Their meticulous approach ensured that the problem was resolved securely and without any harm to anyone concerned. I am proud of their collaboration and commitment to defending our neighborhood.”
