A Florida man was arrested Thursday afternoon after Fort Wayne police discovered over 65 pounds of cocaine hidden under a dog cage in the back of his pickup truck.

According to a Fort Wayne Police Department press release, at about 1:10 p.m. on Nov. 6, officers from the department’s Narcotics Division stopped a black 2019 Chevrolet Silverado for speeding.

During the stop, a K-9 unit alerted officers to the potential presence of narcotics. Police stated the driver, 25-year-old Jordon Wayne Lanier of Ocklawaha, Florida, was requested to exit the vehicle, and officers discovered a .45 caliber weapon in plain view.

The detectives investigated the truck bed and discovered a huge dog cage with a dog inside. According to the announcement, police discovered 30 individually packaged kilograms of cocaine—approximately 66 pounds — with a street worth ranging from $600,000 to $800,000.

Lanier was arrested and charged with felony cocaine distribution and misdemeanor marijuana possession.

According to court documents, Lanier appeared for his initial hearing on November 10 and was freed on a $100,000 bail. He can return to Florida under pretrial supervision, according to police.
