Joan Seltsikas, 51, of Kissimmee, was arrested yesterday for reportedly displaying a gun after an employee at a business refused to give him money .
On November 12, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Studio Skyn (1410 NW 13th Street), where an employee reported that Seltsikas entered the establishment and requested money. The victim claimed he told Seltsikas he didn’t have any money and urged him to go, but Seltsikas yelled and forced his way into the shop. The victim stated that he requested Seltsikas to leave again, and he pulled up his shirt to reveal a revolver in his waistband. The victim said he thought Seltsikas was going to shoot him for not handing him money, so he locked the door and dialed 911.
Seltsikas reportedly exited the store and was subsequently seen visiting CVS across the street. When he was apprehended, a search turned up a black-handled BB gun in his waistband.
According to the arrest report, Seltsikas possesses a Florida driver’s license and Social Security number, although he is a Cuban citizen who was identified by passport.
Seltsikas was charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a crime. He has no criminal record, and Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bond at $200,000. She also ordered a mental health evaluation.
