A South Florida social media influencer and singer has been sentenced to over two years in prison for orchestrating a years-long fraud scheme that included stealing COVID-19 relief funds and attempting to buy expensive cars with fake checks, according to federal authorities.

Scott Lee Huss, 28, also known as Jay Ryako, was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud by U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Prosecutors accused Huss of unlawfully applying for and receiving six Paycheck Protection Program loans totaling more than $600,000 during the outbreak.

Instead of putting the money towards legitimate business expenses, he spent it on cryptocurrency and expensive vehicles.

Huss allegedly dispatched bogus “payment vouchers” to car finance companies in 2023, posing as checks, in order to discharge loans on his vehicles.

According to court documents, he attempted to purchase a Lamborghini and a Mercedes-Benz by sending over $300,000 in fake checks.
