A Crawfordville man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison on drug and gun charges, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.
Jason Rigdon was sentenced after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, according to a press release issued by the attorney’s office on Friday.
According to the announcement, Rigdon, 44, was detained after detectives discovered evidence in February that he was involved in the trafficking of illegal firearms and methamphetamines.
“After a series of controlled operations during which methamphetamine and a handgun were purchased from the defendant,” according to the attorney’s office, investigators executed a search warrant at Rigdon’s residence in March.
Authorities discovered 13 firearms during their search of his residence and the vehicle in which he was apprehended, “two of which had been reported stolen,” according to the press release. Law enforcement also confiscated drugs and ammunition.
Rigdon’s conviction and sentencing were the result of a combined investigation by the Leon and Wakulla County sheriff’s offices, as well as Tallahassee Police and other law enforcement organizations.
