Police have apprehended a Houston man accused of robbing a Valero gas station at gunpoint, just one block from the Rosenberg Police Department.

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, around 11:30 p.m., cops responded to a robbery in progress at the Valero at 1925 4th Street. The store clerk informed cops that a man armed with a weapon demanded money and left with approximately $400 in cash.

Officers soon drew up a perimeter in the surrounding area and discovered cash that looked to have been dropped when the offender fled. Investigators also discovered many nearby surveillance cameras that recorded some of the suspect’s actions.

As investigators worked the case the following week, the Rosenberg Police Strategic Enforcement Team pulled over a guy who matched the suspect’s description for a traffic violation. The man, 26-year-old Raymond Colbert Jr. of Houston, was detained on separate charges.

Investigators eventually learned that Colbert was sleeping at a local Motel 6 with his girlfriend. Detectives obtained consent to search the room and seized the clothing and pistol suspected to have been used in the crime.

After analyzing the evidence, detectives issued arrest warrants for Colbert. On November 15, 2025, Fort Bend County Judge Toni Wallace issued warrants for aggravated robbery (a first-degree felony) and unlawful possession of a firearm (a third-degree felony). The bond was set at $50,000.

According to police, Colbert has a criminal history dating back to 2017 and was just released from the Texas Department of Corrections on February 26, 2025.
