Two Virginia women were sentenced to prison last week for their participation in a cross-country drug trafficking ring that used a local car dealership as a front to distribute fentanyl and marijuana.

Amanda Bell, 24, was sentenced to five years and ten months in federal prison by United States District Judge Arenda Wright Allen, while Farrah Fair, 26, also known as “10K Fay,” was sentenced to two years and six months.

The two were involved in a huge federal probe of Lux Auto in Newport News. According to authorities, the dealership was the headquarters for a vast criminal business in which conspirators hid illegal substances inside vehicles spread throughout the parking lot.

The investigation began in June 2021 and resulted in a 127-count indictment against 37 separate people in September 2023.

According to court records, Bell is an important figure in the organization. She worked as both a courier and a distributor, distributing cannabis and fentanyl pills. Federal officials discovered additional controlled buys in which Bell sold more than 40 grams of fentanyl.

Beyond street sales, officials say Bell helped transfer the organization’s money. She routinely went between Virginia and California, transporting substantial sums of money to facilitate trafficking. Her run came to an end on March 3, 2022, when law authorities apprehended her en route to California with a bag containing more than $35,000 destined for the marijuana trade. Bell pleaded guilty in April to conspiracy to possess fentanyl with the intent to distribute.

Fair, going by the moniker “10K Fay,” worked as a mule for the ring. Prosecutors claim she flew commercial planes between suppliers in California and co-conspirators in Virginia, delivering marijuana-filled luggage.

In January, she pleaded guilty to using a communication facility to assist narcotics trafficking.

Lindsey Halligan, the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Dominique Evans, FBI Special Agent in Charge, made the news.
