A driver is accused of being impaired behind the wheel after a crash left a motorcyclist dead earlier this year in Mesa.
Danica Zunich, 59, was arrested on Thursday after being pulled over by officials. Zunich was wanted on an active warrant for the fatal crash and DUI investigation.
On June 28, shortly after 9 p.m., emergency crews responded to a motorcycle crash near Extension Road and University Drive. According to police, Zunich was attempting to make a left turn onto Extension Road when she failed to yield to a motorcyclist.
According to authorities, two people were on the motorcycle. Seth Hoffman, 34, died in the hospital after driving his motorcycle. His passenger, a woman, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Mesa police have filed manslaughter, aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia charges with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
