Antwan Ford, 27, of Ford Heights, is facing multiple criminal charges after being identified as the individual who struck and critically injured a Cook County Fugitive Task Force member, the Chicago Police Department announced. The incident occurred on December 2 during the task force’s attempt to apprehend Ford on the 2500 block of East 74th Street in the city’s 3rd District.
Following the incident, Ford is now facing charges, including one felony count of attempted murder with a high risk of death or injury, one felony count of aggravated battery of a peace officer, and one felony offense of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in damage or death.
In addition, two warrants have been issued in connection with past instances.
On December 3, at around 9:29 a.m., the Chicago Police Department and the United States Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Ford near the 900 block of N. Lakeview Parkway in Vernon Hills.
According to the CPD press release, Ford is scheduled for a detention hearing at 2600 S. California on December 5. Authorities have not yet provided details about the arrest or the condition of the injured task force member.
