Police arrested an Alabama man after he allegedly attempted to rob a bank in Washington, D.C., over the weekend.

Bruce Dudley Lord, 61, was charged with attempted robbery in connection with the incident, which apparently occurred on December 6.

The Metropolitan Police Department said it all began just after 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, when police responded to a complaint of a robbery in progress at a bank in the 300 block of H Street NE.

Officers discovered that Lord entered the bank and allegedly handed a note to an employee demanding money. He then told the teller that he was going to wait outside for the money before leaving the bank, according to authorities.

Officers swiftly located and apprehended the 61-year-old.
